Repairs to the steeple of St Augustine's Church
24 Sept 2025Steeple Repairs Completed
Thanks to a vigilant parishioner, we were made aware of a large hole in the church steeple, caused primarily by cockatoos. The damage had created an opening that allowed birds to enter, leading to further deterioration and nesting activity inside the steeple, resulting in quite a mess.
Paul Munro, who has worked on many churches throughout the Sandhurst Diocese, came highly recommended. He was contacted to inspect the issue, provide a quote, and carry out the necessary repairs. To ensure the safety of school children, the work was scheduled during the school holiday break.
Over the course of two days, Paul and his colleague reconstructed the damaged section of the steeple. While he had access to a scissor lift, Paul also took the opportunity to repair a few broken tiles and secure some loose capping on the roof.
We are very grateful to Paul for his thorough and professional work in restoring and protecting this important part of our church.
